Development Cost Charges

New Rates for School Site Aquisition: November 15, 2009
The Local Government Act provides a grace period, following the adoption of the bylaw to allow pending applications to receive in-stream status. The implementation date for Municipalities to begin their collection of School Site Acquisition Charges from new applications based on the new rate will be November 15, 2009. Any submission of complete subdivision or building permit applications received in good order by the Municipality before November 15, 2009, (the implementation date) will have until November 15, 2010 (12 months after the implementation date) to register or receive final subdivision approval or building permit issuance based on the old rate.

Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage District Development Cost Charges
The Directors of the GVRD gave final reading of the Development Cost Charge (DCC) Bylaw No. 187 (1996) on November 1, 1996.  The DCC can apply to either building permits or subdivision but not both.  For more information on the GVRD bylaw and rates, contact the Director of Research of Urban Development Institute at 604.669.9585 or visit their website at www.udi.bc.ca.

School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) School Site Acquisition Charge (SSAC)
The Board of School Trustees of School District No. 43, on August 31, 2004, passed Capital Bylaw No. 1 - 2004 to establish a School Site Acquisition Charge (SSAC). The SSAC will apply to all new residential development applications at either subdivision stage, for single family/duplex lots, or at the building permit stage for multiple family residential developments or the residential component of mixed-use developments. (Effective November 1, 2004)
