Health Effects of Idling
Idling 150pxUnnecessary idling produces exhaust emissions that contribute directly to deteriorating our air quality.  These emissions contain products including nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds and particulate matter, which all contribute to the formation of smog.  Smog makes breathing more difficult and makes individuals more susceptible to cardiorespiratory diseases.  Even healthy individuals breathe less efficiently when the air is heavily polluted and seniors, children and people with heart and lung diseases are particularly vulnerable to poor air quality.

Help to reduce your contribution to air pollution and improve the health of your community by stopping unnecessary idling.

If you are going to be stopped for more than 10 seconds, turn your engine off.
