How to Participate
- Find a pail with a lid (such as a four-litre ice cream pail) and place it in a convenient place in your kitchen, such as under the sink. Note: Kitchen Composter Starter Kits with a lidded pail are available at any City facility for $5, or FREE with a coupon from the 2010 Waste Collection Schedule and Calendar of Community Events.
- Put your food waste (see list below) in the compost pail instead of the trash can. You can also wrap your scraps in newspaper or place them in a paper bag or kraft paper liner bag.
- Place your scraps and/or empty your pail into your green waste cart along with your yard waste.
