The City of Port Coquitlam provides bi-weekly, year-round collection of yard waste and kitchen waste from single-family residences receiving City garbage pickup.

Green waste – including yard waste and kitchen waste – accounts for more than 40% of all waste produced in Metro Vancouver.

The City’s green waste collection program not only reduces the amount of yard and kitchen waste going to the landfills, but it also saves significant tax dollars. It costs $72/tonne – rising to $82 tonne in 2010– to dispose of garbage, compared to $52/tonne to dispose of kitchen and yard waste.
