Port Coquitlam’s Parks and Recreation Department offers swimming instruction for all ages, from infants to adults. Parent accompaniment is required in the aquatic programs for children under the age of 3.

For children under the age of six, Hyde Creek offers the Water Wonders swim program, specially designed swimming lessons program, tailored especially to the younger swimmers. Recognizing that there is a large developmental curve from 4 to 6 years of age, the program separates 3-4 year old swimmers from 4-6 year olds to facilitate a better learning experience.

As part of our commitment to offering high quality training in aquatics, Port Coquitlam’s Parks and Recreation Department has adopted the Red Cross Water Safety program (Red Cross Swim Kids), for children 6 years and older. This 10 level program is offered throughout the year at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre as well as Robert Hope and Centennial outdoor pools in the summer months.
