Lions Park Master Plan

Kids on Tires at Lion Park photo

The City of Port Coquitlam is seeking public input for the Lions Park Master Plan, which will establish the future visionAerial photo of Lions Park for one of the City’s most popular parks.

The Master Plan will set out a short-term and long-term vision for the park, to help guide decisions about improvements to be made in the next few years and into the future.

Details to be addressed by the Master Plan process include:
  • overall design
  • types of amenities
  • locations of amenities within the park

Why the Plan is Necessary

Rapid growth in the downtown area has placed increased demands on the park. As well, some of the park’s infrastructure is aging and will need to be replaced in the next few years, and in the future.

The 2007 Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan includes plans to improve the park, and funds have been set aside for this purpose.

However, before any spending decisions are made, there is an opportunity to revisit the overall design of the park to ensure it meets the needs of the community now and into the future. No overall plan currently exists for the park, which was developed in the 1950s with the support of funding from the Port Coquitlam Lions.
