Throughout the year, the City hosts a number of public hearings and public input opportunities on matters impacting the citizens of Port Coquitlam. Some public input opportunities, such as those dealing with zoning amendments, development variance permits and liquor licencing are mandated by the Local Government Act or Community Charter. On other occasions, Council invites the public to participate in planning sessions on matters impacting the community at large. These matters include the City’s Financial Plan and the Official Community Plan or Corporate Strategic Plan.
The City encourages anyone who believes that his/her interest is affected to participate in the public process.
During a public hearing or public input opportunity, those wishing to speak are asked to come forward and begin their presentation by giving their name and address. Everyone is welcome to make his or her own views known.
