If you hold real estate in the City of Port Coquitlam, you are responsible for paying property taxes. A number of factors determine the amount of your property taxes; for example, the assessed value of your commercial or industrial property.
The BC Assessment Authority is the governing body that determines the value of your property. They conduct an assessment of your property's market value as of July 1 each year, which then helps the City of Port Coquitlam determine the amount of taxes you will need to pay on the property. On December 31 of each year, the BC Assessment Authority mails a Property Assessment Notice to each property owner.
The City of Port Coquitlam determines property taxes by applying the assessed market value of your property (as per the BC Assessment Authority) to current tax rates to ascertain the amount of taxes you are required to pay each year.
