The 2010 Olympic and Paralympic games promise to be an exciting and beneficial event for the Vancouver and Whistler area. The City of Port Coquitlam is exploring opportunities for community involvement in this momentous and spectacular event and recently formed the City of Port Coquitlam Legacy Task Force . This Task Force is comprised of dedicated members of the community who represent diverse interests, including sports and disabled sports, arts, culture and heritage, youth, businesses, social development and the community at large. The Task Force's mandate is to explore opportunities for the community to be involved in, contribute to, and benefit from the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Since their appointment one year ago, Port Coquitlam's Legacy Task Force has been working diligently to develop concepts and ideas that have historic emphasis in community spirit, sports and arts & culture to cultivate long-term legacies for future generations.
Eager to share their ideas, the Legacy Task Force recently hosted a series of Open Houses throughout the community to showcase and receive community feedback on potential projects, legacies and opportunities associated with the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
This information (the 2010 Legacy potential projects and ideas) will be available online until the end of the December and includes a web-based feeback form. The Task Force encourages all residents to spend a few minuets reviewing these ideas and providing some feedback - it will be of great assistance in preparing a final list of potential project for recommendation to Council.
