Rivers and Trails Festival
Sunday, September 29, 2013

Port Coquitlam is blessed with and takes great pride in the rivers and trails system we have surrounding our community. Come celebrate these fantastic City features at the Rivers and Trails Festival on the last Sunday of September! In 2012 this unique festival was expanded to 2 park locations with a great outcome and the 2013 planning team is continuing with this expanded version of the festival. Many Culture Days activities will be incorporated into this festival while maintaining an environmental focus. On September 29, 2013 there will be activities in both Lions Park from 10 am – 2 pm and Peace Park from 12 – 4pm.

Festival activities will start at 10 am in Lions Park (2300 Lions Way) and will include; entertainment, art activities, a salmon release, a river clean up, children’s stations with a passport program and opportunities to win prizes. There will be a guided bike ride between the Peace and Lions parks along a scenic portion of the Traboulay PoCo Trail that is approximately 10 km. At both park locations there will be a bike valet service and between the 2 locations there will be free shuttle bus with bike transportation. Activities will begin at noon in Peace Park (1470 Kebet Way) where there will be; a boat building workshop, art activities entertainment and barge access onto the Fraser River provided by Harken Towing. From this barge river tours will be available aboard the SS Native Paddlewheeler, for $2 per person on a first come, first served basis, a limited number of tickets are available only at Peace Park.
