About TravelSmart

Launched more than a year ago in Metro Vancouver, TravelSmart uses website resources, prominent advertising, pledges and prizes to promote sustainable transportation choices. During its pilot program, it was successful in reducing automobile use while increasing carpooling, transit use and cycling.

The aim is to help to slow down the need for ever-growing road infrastructure and cut down on greenhouse gas emissions in the region.

Specific TravelSmart programs are being developed for Port Coquitlam businesses, schools, seniors and new immigrants and will be rolled out over the fall and winter.

The TravelSmart website includes community-focused information on transportation options, trip-planning tools, a calendar of events, maps, a transportation tracker and more.
