The Port Coquitlam Spirit Committee was established by City Council in 2004 to identify 2010 Olympic and Paralympic community spirit and legacy building opportunities for the City of Port Coquitlam. The Spirit Committee was associated with the Spirit of BC Community Committee program established and run by 2010 Legacies Now, a provincially recognized organization.

The committee was a group of eleven citizens, representing a cross-section of the community including sports and disabled sports, arts, heritage and culture, social interests, the business community and the community at large.

After an extensive public consultation process, the Committee made recommendations to Council and helped implement a variety of projects and activities that tapped into the Olympic spirit, promoted community spirit, sports and arts & culture, and cultivated long-term legacies for future generations.
