Live @ Leigh Square

summer city Live @ Leigh Square
Saturdays, July and August
1:30 - 3:30pm


Bring your lawn chair or picnic blanket and enjoy some wonderful Saturday afternoon entertainment provided by local talent.  All shows are free and are performed at the
Leigh Square Bandshell in downtown Port Coquitlam (beside City Hall) beginning at 1:30pm.  The shows tend to last for a couple of hours.

July 4  - Brandon Chalmers and Arbutus Collective (folk music)
This folk group can usually be found playing at local coffee shops or at one of your beachers watching the embers burn down a good old fash sandy jam!

July 11 - Project Garage (various youth bands)
Musicians from the Youth Matter! youth musical development program

July 18 - David Anthony Project (acoustic pop)
Ever since the band was formed, they have forge  a sound that is familiar yet diverse enough to be identified as completely their own.  Their ability to pour their hearts into their music takes you to a unique world.

July 25 - Immersion (jazz) and Opening Act by Zoe Pitt and Shawna DeRuiter (dance)
The members of Immersion joined forces to explore the soundscapes of Jazz, Swing, Boss Nova adn Free Improvisation.  With a set list that combines original material and interpretations of standards, Immersion delights the senses and brings joy to the listener.  Two young dancers will open the show with a jazz solo called "Instant Replay" performed by Zoe Pitt and a hip-hop dance called "Hotline" performed by Shawna DeRuiter.

Aug 1 - Legal Limit (rock)
Legal Limit is a high energy classic rock cover band that has been performing in the Lower Mainland for the past 10 years.  Whether they're entertaining at large civic or charity events, corporate functions or house parties, they always bring the party to a whole new level.

Aug 8 - Carolyn Stewart Band with Christina Alconcel and Stef Lang (pop rock)

This blues/rock artist is a happily married mom of three who works two part-time jobs and somewhere in between finds time to write songs.  Carolyn and her band of four will be sharing the stage with the talented Christina Alconcel and Stef Lang.

Aug 15 - The Stockmen with Opening acts Kevin "Friday Night Special" Roberge and Hailstorm
Born and raised in the Tri-Cities, The Stockmen formed in 1990 and have been performing their original roots-rock for audiences ever since.

Kevin got his name from being the guy who always brought his guitar.  Whether it be good country licks or modern day rock and roll "The Friday Night Special" is guaranteed to have something for everyone!

Hailstorm (rock) is a group of thirteen year old rock stars that formed to play at their school's talent show and have since taken every opportunity to entertain!

Aug 22 - Korean drumming/dance and Wearable art for Opening of BC-Jeongju Hanji Cultural Art Exhibition
The festival opens with special presentations of Korean drumming and dance and Wearable Art Fashion Show of works in paper and fibre.

Aug 29 - Beanstalk Festival (folk music)

Beanstalk if a free all day folk festival organized by the community members and intended to bring people together, create friendships and promote live music.  Come on over to Leigh Square for some great music, great people and great atmosphere!  Visit www.myspace.com/beanstalkfolkfest

The performances are produced by community volunteers with the assistance of the Parks and Recreation Department and the Port Coquitlam Business Improvement Association.

Be sure to also check out our Music in the Park concert series taking place in Lions Park on Sunday afternoons between 2-4pm.
