Live @ Leigh Square

Leigh Square
Saturdays, July and August
1:30 - 3:30pm smmercity2010


Bring your lawn chair or picnic blanket and enjoy some wonderful Saturday afternoon entertainment provided by local talent.  All shows are free and are performed at the Leigh Square Bandshell in downtown Port Coquitlam (beside City Hall) beginning at 1:30pm.  The shows tend to last for a couple of hours.

JULY 3
Rick Buckman Coe
Buckman Coe creates soul folk music with a vibe somewhere between Neil Young and Bob Marley. His songs are diverse and varied, reminiscent of artists such as Jeff Buckley, Paul Simon, and Ben Harper.

David Ward
David Ward delivers a delicious musical gumbo fusing together folk, jazz, blues, theatre, and pure imaginative wit.

JULY 10
Jared Fowler
Jared Fowler’s music is honest and insightful and varies from playful love songs, to ballads, to rock n’ roll.

Ivy League Brawlers
This band’s music combines many different genres including rock, funk, ska, swing, punk, hip hop, pop, metal, and soul.

Opening act by 12 year old Payton Rector.


JULY 17
Bugsy Jive
This band is inspired by the greats such as Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, the Travelling Wilburys, and Queen. The influence from these bands can be heard through their music, touching on genres from blues, roots, rock, and jazz.

Max Serpentini
Made in Canada, Italian Singer/Songwriter & Percussive Guitarist - Max Serpentini’s Solo Acoustic gigs showcase a super rhythmic & FUNky guitar style & soulful vocal stylings.

JULY 24
The Dance Experience
New addition this year at Live @ Leigh Square is a showcase for dancers and dance groups (variety of genres). Get in the groove and we’ll have you moving to the beat!

JULY 31
Corbin Vanderzalm
A local favorite, Corbin has been playing guitar and singing since he was four and draws inspiration from musicians such as John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Switchfoot, Queen, Jamie Cullum, and many more.

Vespertine
Vespertine’s music brings out inner feelings of invincibility, never losing one’s past, and joy to just take a drive and sing!

AUGUST 7
Honeybeez
Comparable to a style sounding like Maroon 5 mixed with John Meyer, Honeybeez’s lyrics reflect life, love & battling addictions.


Case Closed
This charming folk band was officially formed on Canada Day 2008 and is in the process of recording their first studio album at Blue Wave Studios, expected to be released this year.

Opening act provided by sisters Luvena & Sharmaine Kwong.

AUGUST 14
Rachel Thom
Rachel Thom has performed on main stage with Juno winner Barney Bentall for the Olympic Torch Relay ’10 and has won Singer of the Year at iPOP Canada ’08 & at iPOP L.A.‘09.

Pugs & Crows
The Pugs and Crows’ cinematic music draws inspiration from experimental forms of Eastern European folk and modern jazz.

AUGUST 21
Visible Minority
Visible Minority is a musical experimental project by 4 musicians from different parts of the world who met in Vancouver and decided to come together to create their own blend of original music.

AUGUST 28
The SOME x 6 Band
The SOME x 6 Band was founded in 2002 at Nat Bailey Stadium, Vancouver. They cross genre boundaries and their sound ranges from blues/rock to rock.

This is Franco
Formed in 2008, and having a collective age of only 22, these musicians have been praised by critics and gained legions of new fans after opening up for established musical artists such as 54-40, Econoline Crush and Sweatshop Union.

Opening act by 15 year old Amanda Lee.


The performances are produced by community volunteers with the assistance of the Parks and Recreation Department and the Port Coquitlam Business Improvement Association.

Be sure to also check out our Music in the Park concert series taking place in Lions Park on Sunday afternoons between 2-4pm.
