Fire Protective Services

Quint TruckThe Port Coquitlam Fire Protective Services Division is the authority for fire safety and prevention. Services include administration and enforcement of fire safety legislation, such as the Fire Services Act, BC Building Code, BC Fire Code and the City of Port Coquitlam Fire and Emergency Services, Bylaw No. 3562, and False Alarm, Bylaw No. 3104, as they apply to existing properties and buildings.

Fire Protective Services interprets and explains applicable legislation and bylaws to a variety of internal and external contacts. We provide assistance and advice regarding fire prevention and safety matters such as fire protection systems, services, plan reviews and applicable life safety codes.

All members of the Fire Protective Services Division are Local Assistants to the Fire Commissioner of British Columbia. Within this capacity, we are required to collect fire loss statistics for the Province, perform fire investigations, perform regular routine fire inspections and provide support at major fire emergencies.
