The City of Port Coquitlam invites the community to join our Cultural Roundtable on February 16th, 4:30 – 6:30pm at the Michael Wright Art Gallery in the Gathering Place. This is an OPEN invitation to all members of the creative and cultural sector, City staff, businesses, community organizations and educational institutions. Our goal is to share information and resources and to implement new cultural initiatives. We will have a guest speaker, Kieron Hunt, who will present on the Downtown Action Plan. There will also be time for questions and dialogue.

Blue Moon Marquee is a Gypsy Blues band born of the wild rose foothills of Alberta. They currently make their home in an island shack on the coast of the Salish Sea ,British Columbia. A.W. Cardinal (vocals/guitar) and Jasmine Colette a.k.a. Badlands Jass (vocals/bass/drums) write and perform original compositions influenced by anything that swings, jumps or grooves. Artists such as Lonnie Johnson, Louis Armstrong, Blind Willie Jonson, Charley Patton, Howlin' Wolf, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Tom Waits, Memphis Minnie, and Django Reinhardt are deeply infused in the soul of their music.

West Coast Canadian award-nominated touring musician, Jocelyn Pettit, is a vibrant fiddler, stepdancer, and singer. With grace and passion, Jocelyn delivers an engaging and uplifting performance of original and traditional music, inspired by the Celtic and folk music cultures of Canada’s Cape Breton and Québec, Ireland, Scotland, Brittany (France), and Galicia (Spain). With her band, Jocelyn has ignited stages across Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and Europe. She has performed on national television and radio; performed with Irish supergroup, The Chieftains; and earned multiple award nominations, including "World Artist of the Year" and "Young Performer of the Year" at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.

With a sound that blends high energy Latin, West African, reggae and folk rock rhythms the John Welsh Band gets crowds moving wherever they perform. A world traveller by nature, John Welsh lived and studied in Mexico and Guatemala where he was heavily influenced by the music, language and culture. After 5 years of playing and recording with various bands he and brother Chris(bass) met Nigerian born Courage Eigbike who brought his reggae and West African influenced sound. Together they began creating songs that would get crowds dancing and singing along with the vision of bringing their world music sound to a mainstream audience.
