Kitchen Composter Starter Kits

As part of its waste-reduction strategy, the City of Port Coquitlam is making Kitchen Composter Starter Kits available to Port Coquitlam residents.

Kitchen Composter PailThe kits are $5 or FREE with a coupon in the 2010 Waste Collection Schedule and Calendar of Community Events. They include:
  • a quality lidded pail suitable for collecting kitchen waste for your green/kitchen waste cart or backyard composter,
  • a Kitchen Waste Collection Program brochure, with tips and a waste-sorting chart,
  • a backyard composting brochure,
  • a coupon for a further $5 off an Earth Mover backyard composter, available from the City at the subsidized price of $25,
  • an information sheet on making your own newspaper pail liner and other tips, and
  • an information sheet on making your own composter.
    The kits are available at the following City facilities:
    • Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, 604.927.5411

    • Hyde Creek Recreation Centre, 1379 Laurier Avenue, 604.927.7946

    • Operations Centre, 1737 Broadway Street, 604.927.5488 or 604.927.5496
    The kits are available to Port Coquitlam residents only and quantities are limited. Limit one kit per household.
