Friday May 5
May Day Opening Ceremony
PoCo Recreation Complex, 2150 Wilson Ave.
Doors open @ 6:30 pm
Open Ceremony 7:30 pm

Enjoy the kick off to the 94th annual May Day Festival which includes the installation of the Royal Party and traditional May Pole Dancing performed by our local school children. Special feature act Chersea will kick off the May Day Festival.

Friday May 5 - Sunday May 7  
Art Focus May Day Art Show
The Outlet at Leigh Square, 2248 McAllister Ave.
Show Opening Reception Friday 7-9 pm
11am to 5 pm Saturday & Sunday            

A collective of Tri-City Artists, displaying a wide range of original works of art in a variety of mediums. 

 Friday May 5 - May 30
May Day Art Explosion
Michael Wright Art Galley Leigh Square
Open during Gallery hours.

Featuring large works in oils and acrylic by local artists. Meet the artists at the Exhibit Opening on Saturday May 13 from 12:30 - 2:30 pm following the May Day Parade in the Michael Wright Art Gallery.


Monday May 8
Monday Night Drop-in Improv Workshop            
Terry Fox Theatre, 1260 Riverwood Gate 7-8:30 pm            

Seen improv and wonder how they do it? Have some experience and want to tighten your skills? These are workshops for any skill level with improv exercises and games to build con dence and skills that transfer to everyday life. Cost: $10.50 and $5.25 for Secondary Students. CASH ONLY


Friday May 12

PoCo Heritage Downtown Walk
Heritage Museum at Leigh Square 6pm

The first heritage walks of the season with Bryan Ness. This casual walk will be an informative and fun look at PoCo’s past. FREE

Choral Connections Choir
In Leigh Square 7pm

Enjoy a free outdoor performance by Choral Connections; this 80 member choir will be presenting a concert of cabaret songs. Outdoors at Leigh Square Bandshell.



Saturday May 13
Pre-Parade Activities Pancake Breakfast
7 - 11 am Leigh Square

A pre-parade tradition in Leigh Square at the Outlet - breakfast for the whole family at a reasonable cost with proceeds going to your local service organizations and scouts. $4.00

VPD Motorcycle Drill Squad
10:30 am

Get your spot early to enjoy this exciting pre parade display with Vancouver Police Motorcycle Drill Team known for amazing formations.

Port Coquitlam Rotary May Day Parade
Main Parade Start Time - 11am

This long standing community tradition puts a smile on every face! Enjoy marching bands, floats, and many laughs. Parade route is Shaughnessy to Elgin, Elgin to Mary Hill, Mary Hill to Hawthorne ending on Tyner and road closures go into effect starting at 9am. 2017 Parade Marshall is Michael Thompson for whom Thompson Park is named.

Leigh Square Post Parade Block Party
Leigh Square - parade end - 5 pm

Join the family fun and party in the Square with us.
  • Enjoy Food Trucks & Refreshments
  • Mainstage with many local talents and feature performance with by Greg Drummond at 1pm 
  • Free children’s games and activities 
  • Shop at the May Day Marketplace & Visit Biz Alley 
  • Tour the Emergency Preparedness Fair 
  • Visit PoCo Heritage Museum to explore the “Journeys and Connections” display. Share your Journey to Port Coquitlam story for our upcoming Canada 150 Celebration @ pocoheritage.org/myjourney or in person.
Historical Trolley Tours
12:30 - 4 pm Board at designated stops listed below.

Join tour guides aboard a Trolley bus to a variety of historical locations in Port Coquitlam. Trolley tour rides are free and passengers can hop on and o at all stops. The  rst tour will board at 12:30 at stop #1 and will run approximately every 1/2 hour with the last tour leaving at 3:30pm. FREE

Designated stops will be:
   #1- PoCo Rec Complex
   #2-Leigh Square Block Party -  Shaughnessy St.
   #3 PoCo Heritage Museum at Leigh Square - 2248 McAllister St. 
   #4 Shaughnessy Station

Sunday May 14
Mother’s Day Picnic in Lions Park & Kinsmen Club Pancake Breakfast

Join us for a fun filled day and some nice treats from Moms and entertainment for the whole family. Begin the day by treating mom to a $4 pancake breakfast (8:30-10:30 am) or treat her to lunch (11:00 am-2:00 pm). There is a wonderful line up of family entertainment and activities including:
  • May pole dancing with Tiddley Cove Morris Dancers, 
  • enjoy children’s entertainer Gina Lina 
  • a great show with Matthew the Magician
