Rivers and Trails Festival

Once again Port Coquitlam will celebrate the fantastic Rivers and Trails system in at the Rivers & Trails Festival on Sunday. September 25, 2016. In 2012 this unique festival was expanded to 2 park locations with a great outcome and the 2016 planning team is continuing the expansion of this festival. Once again - Tola Yoga & Fitness will be bringing All Levels Yoga Classes in Lions Park and Peace Park.

Festival activities will start at 10am in Lions Park (2300 Lions Way) and will include; Outdoor Yoga classes, music by Dominique Fricot and Andrew Christopher and the Echos, art activities, food trucks, a salmon release, children’s stations with a passport program. Activities will begin at noon in Peace Park (1470 Kebet Way) where there will be; children’s games, face painting, a magic show, musical entertainment, food trucks and barge access onto the Fraser River provided by Harken Towing. From this barge river tours will be available aboard the SS Native Paddle wheeler, for $2 per person on a first come, first served basis, a limited number of tickets are available only at Peace Park.

Participants are encouraged to ride bikes to and between the parks. They are joined by a scenic portion of the Traboulay PoCo Trail that is approximately a 10 km loop. At both park locations there will be a bike valet service. Also between the 2 locations there will be a free shuttle bus service available.

Festival activities will start at 10 am in Lions Park (2300 Lions Way) and will include:

12 - 12:30 pm    Music by Dominque Fricot - Standing over 6 1/2
feet tall and hailing from Salmon Arm, BC, Dominique
Fricot writes heart melting tunes that have taken him
across North America and Europe and won him 102.7
fm's Peak Performance Project. His singles "I miss the
80s" and "Haunted by Love" have landed him regular
radio air play on local and national (CBC2) radio stations.

FREE Shuttle Bus Schedule
Between these times, buses will make continuous loops between the 2 parks.

This year the shuttle bus will  also stop in front of the Port Coquitlam Heritage and Cultural Society at Leigh Square!  You can get off the bus to check out their current exhibit;

This exhibit will be open from 11:00am – 3:00pm.

Food Trucks

While you are on-site at either location you can tantalize your taste buds on some great food.  Lions Park will feature Gypsy Gourmet Food Tuck, they serve an all vegan menu….  We know what you are thinking but we challenge you to taste the difference.  Then at Peace Park will be Melt Town Grill Cheese and Poutine….  If you like Grill Cheese you are going to love these cheesy sandwiches, and maybe add a cup of their tomato dip or a poutine to your meal.
