Energy Permit
An Energy Permit is required for the installation of a hydronic heating system. An Energy Permit is not required for the repair of minor leaks in heating pipes and the replacement of pumps, zone valves, or other components of the heating systems.
Get Started: Pre-application
If a Building Permit is required for your project, if must be issued before your Plumbing Permit will be approved (you may apply for the two permits concurrently).

Application Process
The completed Energy Permit application must be accompanied by the appropriate attachments. Please see the application form for a list of application requirements.

Fees, Charges, and Security/Deposit
All application fees are outlined in Schedule D of the Fees and Charges Bylaw.
Approval Process
Staff Review
A File Manager will be assigned to manage your application. Staff will review your application and inform you if any necessary requirements are not met.
Permit Issuance
Once all application requirements have been met, you will be notified that your permit has been issued and is ready for pickup (see office hours below).
