Terry Fox Hometown Run Traffic Information and Closures

​Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. for the Terry Fox Hometown Run at the Hyde Creek Recreation Centre, 1379 Laurier Avenue in Port Coquitlam. The run begins at 10:00 a.m on Sunday, Sept. 18.

People are encouraged to run, walk, skateboard, ride a bike, rollerblade or just about anything they choose during the event on this wheelchair accessible route. Everyone is welcome to participate in this classic Canadian tradition and there are no barriers to join and fundraise. Play a part and cheer on participants as they pass through the community. The idea is to have FUN while raising funds for cancer research.

Route and registration information is available at portcoquitlam.ca/terryfox. The routes will be marked and there will be traffic control at the major intersections. Participants are asked to keep to the right at all times and to watch for oncoming traffic.

Traffic Information and Road Closures

Hyde Creek Recreation Centre will remain open during this event however access to the parking lot will be closed between 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Participants should consider using other forms of transportation to get to Hyde Creek Recreation Centre for the run – Parking is limited and Laurier Ave is closed to traffic.

The following extra traffic control measures will be put into place by volunteers and the RCMP to ensure the safety of participants:

Temporary FULL Road Closure from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • 1300 Laurier from Hyde Creek Recreation Centre to Coast Meridian Road
  • 2400 Blk to 3500 Blk Coast Meridian Rd.
  • 1000 to1400 Blk of Riverwood Gate
  • 1000 to 2500 Blk of Riverside Dr.
  • Coast meridian Overpass
  • 1700 Blk to 2100 Blk Kingsway
  • 2100 block of Kelly Ave.

No parking on both sides of Kingsway Ave., from Wilson Ave. to Broadway Ave. and 1300 block Laurier Ave.

Residents are encouraged to use alternate routes as much as possible to avoid the noted area listed above on Sunday morning. Road closures are viewable online at portcoquitlam.ca/roadclosures. Please also remove any vehicles parked in these areas before 8 a.m. to allow run volunteers to set up.
