Be Part Of History By Submitting Items For 100th May Days Capsule

A new community time capsule will be buried outside City Hall as part of this year’s May Day centennial celebrations in Port Coquitlam.

Residents of all ages are being invited to submit items until June 15, 2023.

A wide variety of submissions are welcomed, including art, photographs, writing and small items. The submissions may show why the May Day’s Spring Festival and our City is special, or what people in the future should know about what May Days and our City means to the community.

The time capsule will be opened in 50 years in 2073. PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives is coordinating the project in partnership with the City of Port Coquitlam.

Submission requirements

  • All entries must include the submitter’s name, address, phone number, email address, and be accompanied by an explanation of why their item should be included.
  • Flat items such as artwork may be no larger than 8.5” x11”.
  • Digital items will be accepted on a USB drive.
  • Small items will be accepted, but please consider that there is limited space in the capsule.

Submission drop-off

In person at the PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives. Hours are available at pocoheritage.org.

Selection process

A selection committee will choose the entries for the time capsule following the submission period. Winners will be posted at pocoheritage.org by September 30, 2023.
