Celebrate BC Rivers Day With a River Clean Up
Join us for Port Coquitlam’s annual Rivers and Trails Clean Up on Sept.25 at Lions Park from 9 to 11 a.m.
This year’s Rivers and Trails Clean Up will be held at Lions Park (2300 Lions Way) in recognition of B.C. Rivers Day, which began in 1980 and is now internationally recognized as World Rivers Day, to celebrate the many values of rivers around the world.
Participants are encouraged to meet at the Lions Park picnic shelter from 9 to 11 a.m. and should come prepared with gloves and appropriate outdoor footwear and clothing. The City recommends participants bring their own garbage bags, buckets, small shovels and gloves. No registration is required.
The community-led river clean up is organized by the Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable and supported by the Rotary Club of Port Coquitlam Centennial.
Residents attending the Rivers and Trails event are encouraged to go green and walk or cycle to the park.
