A mix of fun and community-building events are in store for Port Coquitlam youth on Saturday, May 5 as the City hosts its annual Youth Week celebrations.

All Port Coquitlam youth are invited to participate in the following FREE events at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre.

• 12-5 p.m.: Open House with a BBQ, live DJ, creative station, hamster ball races
• 12-2 p.m.: Big screen gaming
• 2-4 p.m.: Dodgeball
• 4-6 p.m.: 5 on 5 floor hockey tournament – pre-registration required at experienceit.ca
• 7-10 p.m.: 3 on 3 basketball tournament – pre-registration required at experienceit.ca

In addition, youth, adult mentors, businesses and organizations will be recognized for their contributions to the community at the annual Tri-City Youth REACH Awards being held at Port Moody’s Inlet Theatre on May 9. By invite only.

Held each year throughout B.C. from May 1 to 7, Youth Week recognizes the contributions of youth and strengthens the bonds between young people and their communities. Youth play a key role in organizing the annual events in Port Coquitlam, which has been celebrating Youth Week since 2007.
