Centennial Outdoor Pool Set to Open May 2

​The start of summer aquatics is set to begin early on Mon. May 2 with the opening of Centennial outdoor pool. Outdoor pool enthusiasts can enjoy the early opening, despite the cooler temperatures and wet weather.

The pool located at 3050 Chester Street is one of two outdoor pools that will open early to help Port Coquitlam residents get outdoors for some exercise. Amenities include a 25-metre, heated six-lane pool with a one-metre diving board, warm showers and separate change rooms with facilities that are wheelchair accessible.

Residents can visit the City’s outdoor swimming pool during the following hours of operation:

  • Mon. – Fri. – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Sat. and Sun. – 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m
  • Aquatic Fitness classes (shallow/deep) – Wed and Fri. from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Registration required at portcoquitlam.ca/register.

The pool will remain open until the end of September.

Residents visiting City outdoor pools are reminded:

  • Supervision and/or swimming ability requirements are in place for children under 7 years of age at all City pools.
  • $2 drop-in fee and $6.51 for Aquatic Fitness Classes.
  • Caregivers should supervise children at all times.
  • Listen to the on-duty lifeguards.

The following amenities will be available this summer:

  • Spray parks at Castle, Lions, Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) and Sun Valley – Reopens May 20
  • Robert Hope outdoor pool & wading pools – Reopens on June 22. Hours of operation vary by location and can be viewed online at portcoquitlam.ca/outdoorpools.
  • Outdoor Summer Camps – A selection of outdoor camps for children and youth will start July 4 – registration opens for Port Coquitlam residents Tues. May 3 and for the general public Fri. May 6. Visit portcoquitlam.ca/leisureguide.
  • Summer in the City – The City has a number of events, festivals, programs and activities planned. Visit portcoquitlam.ca/summer.
