The sound of piano music will be once again livening Port Coquitlam parks this summer.

Back for the third year, the Pianos on the Street project will be launched at 12:00 p.m. at Veterans Park (next to City Hall) on July 13 before the start of the PoCo Grand Prix. The public is invited to enjoy performances by pianists of the Piano Teachers Federation and remarks by Mayor Greg Moore.

This year, the pianos have been painted with unique designs by local artists Brit Jade, Laura Jones-Canta, as well as students of the Minnekhada Middle School Art Club and Cabe Creators.

Four pianos will be located within the city at Veterans Park next to City Hall, Hyde Creek Recreation Centre (1379 Laurier Ave), Settlers Park (1250 Confederation Dr.), and Lions Park (2300 Lions Way) for the public to play until the end of August.

The pianos are provided as part of the Pianos on the Street outdoor community engagement initiative spearheaded by Pacey’s Pianos and the Piano Teachers Federation in partnership with the City of Port Coquitlam.

Since 2014, Pianos on the Street has been placing pianos in public places in iconic locations throughout Metro Vancouver for the community to celebrate visual art and live music, inspiring new and different uses for public space and making music accessible to the community.
