Get Out & Vote on Oct. 15 for the 2022 Municipal Election

Port Coquitlam’s municipal election will be taking place on Sat. Oct. 15, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

All qualified voters are encouraged to head to the polls on Sat. Oct. 15 to cast their ballot for selecting six councillors to serve the City for a four-year term.

Where to vote:
Polls will be open at nine voting locations from 8:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m.:

  • Blakeburn Elementary School (1040 Riverside Drive)
  • Castle Park Elementary School (1144 Confederation Drive)
  • Cedar Drive Elementary School (3150 Cedar Drive)
  • Central Elementary School (2260 Central Avenue)
  • Hyde Creek Recreation Centre (1379 Laurier Avenue)
  • Kilmer Elementary School (1575 Knappen Street)
  • Kwayhquitlum Middle School (3280 Flint Street)
  • Westwood Elementary School (3610 Hastings Street)
  • The Outlet (2248 McAllister Ave)

Who Can Vote?

  • Anyone on the Provincial Voters List is already registered to vote in the municipal election.
  • Residents can also register on election day with two pieces of identification (one signed), providing they meet the following requirements:

Resident Electors must:

  • Be a resident of the City of Port Coquitlam;
  • Be 18 years or older as of Oct. 15, 2022;
  • Be a Canadian citizen;
  • Be a B.C. resident for at least six months immediately before the day of registration; and
  • Not disqualified from voting in an election

Non-resident Property Electors must:

  • Be 18 years or older as of Oct. 15, 2022;
  • Be a Canadian citizen;
  • Be a B.C. resident for at least six months immediately before the day of registration; and
  • Not disqualified from voting in an election
  • Be a registered owner of real property in the City for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration;
  • Be registered as a non-resident property elector only in relation to one parcel of real property in the City; and
  • If applicable, have written consent from majority of registered owners.

Where is mail ballot voting available?
Mail ballot voting is available for qualified voters in Port Coquitlam until noon Oct. 15. Residents can pick up their ballot at the Elections Office once their application has been approved. Apply online at portcoquitlam.ca/elections.

The Port Coquitlam Election Office must receive the completed mail ballot by 8 p.m. on Oct. 15, 2022.

Why vote?
Cities make decisions about services that affect our everyday lives such as community planning, business zoning, transportation, property taxes, festivals and events; and they provide water, sewer, roads, policing, parks and recreation services.

Voter turnout in Port Coquitlam in 2018 was 28.8 per cent, with 11,904 voters casting ballots.
