Holiday Festivities Continue in Port Coquitlam

The holiday fun continues this month in Port Coquitlam with a line-up of family friendly festivities for all ages.

Friday, Dec. 7 10:15-11:15 p.m. – Youth Late Night Skate at Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex for ages 11-18. Youth are invited to dress in their ugly holiday sweater and enjoy time with friends at this fun drop-in program. If you don’t have an ugly sweater, come at 8 p.m. and decorate your sweather to make it ugly. Admission is $3 including skate/helmet rentals or free with the Youth Access Card.

Saturday, Dec. 8 1-3 p.m. – Holiday Pop-up Event at 2600 block of Shaughnessy Street. Take a break from the holiday bustle and enjoy some free Christmas fun at the Holiday Pop-up Event featuring entertainment, refreshments, hands-on activities and a chance to mingle with fellow residents and Port Coquitlam’s new City Council.

Friday, Dec. 14 6-8 p.m. – Holiday Turkey Dinner at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre. Register at www.experienceit.ca using code 30277 or 604-927-7529. Price for children and youth is $3 and adults is $5.

Saturday, Dec. 15 9-11:30 a.m. – Breakfast with Santa at Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex. Enjoy breakfast and activities  followed by a visit with Santa and a free gift for the kids. Register at: www.experienceit.ca using code 23509 or 604-927-PLAY. Admission is $10 (free for children under age three).

Sunday. Dec. 16 1:15-3:45 p.m. – Skate with Santa at Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex. Come skate with Santa and his helpers, and then enjoy free hot chocolate and holiday treats. Regular admission.

Tuesday, Dec. 18 7-7:45 p.m. Canadian Pacific Railway Holiday Train at Port Coquitlam West Coast Express Station (7pm arrival, 7:15-7:45 p.m. show). The Port Coquitlam stop marks the end of the train’s twentieth anniversary cross-country journey with free performances by Sam Roberts Band, Kelly Prescott and Tracey Brown.

Monday, Dec. 24 11a.m.-12:30 p.m. & 12:45-2 p.m. Christmas Eve Skate at Port Coquitlam Recreation Complexregular admission. Drop in with friends and family to enjoy a festive skate and warm up with a free cup of hot chocolate. Ring, Skate and Puck 10-11:30 a.m (age 4-12), 11:45-1:15 p.m. (all). Join supervised time on ice to practice your stick and puck skills. Helmet, stick and hockey gloves required. $4/person. Space is limited.

Monday, Dec. 31 12:30-2 p.m. and 2:15-3:45 p.m. New Year’s Eve Skates at Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex. Regular admission. Ring, Stick and Puck – 1-2:30 pm (age 4-12) and 2:45-4:15 (all). Admiission is $4. Space is limited. Helmet, stick and hockey gloves required.

The public is also reminded to vote for their favourite tree  in the sixth Annual PoCo Heritage Christmas Tree Festival by December 31. More info is available at www.pocoheritage.org.

Donations for the SHARE food bank will be accepted at all activities and events.
