New Biz Hub is a One-stop Shop for Businesses

Doing business in Port Coquitlam is easier than ever with the introduction of the city’s new Biz Hub.

Officially launched at the PoCo Best Biz Awards last month, Biz Hub is a one-stop shop that brings together all the city services required to start and operate a business, develop a property or build in Port Coquitlam. Biz Hub is located in the City Hall Annex (200-2564 Shaughnessy St.).

“Biz Hub reflects the continuing evolution of our services for businesses, which provide important services, jobs and revenue to the community,” Mayor Brad West said. “This one-stop shop will make it easier for businesses to navigate the city’s regulations and processes, giving them more time to focus on what they do best.”

Biz Hub will provide one-on-one advice to businesses to guide them through the business licensing process, including:

  • Applications and renewals,
  • Review of permitted land uses on the property,
  • Building permit applications for construction or alterations, and
  • Building and fire inspection scheduling.

Development planning, building and engineering services are also consolidated at the same location. Online business and development resources, procedures and forms – including online business licence renewals – can be found at www.portcoquitlam.ca/bizhub.

“We’ve been working to streamline processes and remove roadblocks for our businesses for a number of years,” said Mayor West. “It’s part of our ongoing commitment to make Port Coquitlam more business-friendly and help our local businesses thrive.”

A review of the City’s business licensing services in 2017 identified a need to bring together all the services required to handle the applications, review of proposed land uses and related permits and inspections. Previously, these services were located at both City Hall and the Annex.

Biz Hub services are located on the second floor of the City Hall Annex. As part of the launch, the city also installed improved wayfinding and signage at the Annex.
