PSA: Celebrate Public Works Week Online and With A Contest
Port Coquitlam residents can learn more about the city’s public works services during Public Works Week from May 16 to 22.
The city will be featuring videos on its website throughout the week providing a behind-the-scenes look at some of the core services Port Coquitlam residents rely on every day. Viewers can watch Public Works staff at work doing parks maintenance, street paving, fleet repairs, directional line painting, waste collection and watermain flushing.
Enter a Colouring Contest by May 31 for a Chance to Win
Port Coquitlam residents of all ages have a chance to win a $100 gift card from a local business by participating in a colouring contest. Participants can download the colouring page and submit it online at portcoquitlam.ca/pwweek by May 31.
Submissions will also be selected as a display for the City’s waste collection trucks.
Stronger Together
This year’s Public Works Week theme – Stronger Together – speaks to the role public works plays in creating a great place to live. Public Works provides togetherness needed for collaboration when working on capital projects, infrastructure solutions, and delivering quality of life services.
The city’s Public Works Division provides waste collection services and maintains and improves city infrastructure including streets and sidewalks, parks, trails and public spaces, the sewer, water and drainage system and the city fleet.
This year’s online celebration is being held in lieu of the annual open house as part of the city’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
