PSA: Give Feedback On Port Coquitlam Housing By June 21 – and Win
People living or seeking housing in Port Coquitlam, now have until June 21 to take the City’s housing needs survey and be entered to win a $100 gift card.
The City has extended the deadline to June 21 on the housing needs survey. To help make informed decisions and meet local housing needs, the City is collecting feedback from the public on their housing experiences in Port Coquitlam, their housing needs, preferred housing types, barriers to finding and maintaining housing, accessibility and other issues and challenges.
Respondents are also asked for ideas about potential solutions. The survey is linked to portcoquitlam.ca/housingneeds and takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
Those who complete the survey in full by June 21 will be entered in a draw for a $100 gift card to a Port Coquitlam business of their choice – part of the City’s ongoing support of businesses through the pandemic. One entry will be accepted per person.
Communities across B.C. are completing similar housing needs assessments, with provincial funding support for assistance from a consultant. In addition to the survey, the City is conducting focus groups and other targeted engagement to collect feedback from stakeholders such as housing and service providers, large employers and developers.
The collected information will help staff create a Housing Needs Report for Council this fall that provides a detailed picture of existing housing supply, current and future housing needs, challenges and opportunities.
The report will inform a review of the City’s rental policies and ground-oriented housing options, as well as the update to the Official Community Plan, which guides future development and land use.
The survey is part of the City’s ongoing effort to ensure Port Coquitlam is meeting the current and future housing needs of all residents. In recent years, the City has facilitated new affordable housing projects, planned for new market housing to support downtown revitalization, created an Affordable and Family Friendly Housing Policy, adopted a Housing Action Plan and created a Social Housing & Services Guide.
Information about the City’s housing work is posted at portcoquitlam.ca/housing.
