Recycle Your Electronics for Free on September 16
Local residents are invited to drop off their old electronics free of charge on Saturday, September 16 from 10am to 2pm at the Vancity Shaughnessy Station Branch.
Volunteers from the City of Port Coquitlam’s Youth Crew (PYC) have partnered with ElectroRecycle to offer this complementary service at Vancity’s annual Shred-a-thon event.
ElectroRecycle, will be on site with their Mobile Recycling Depot, making it easy for people to drop off any broken small appliances or power tools free of charge.
ElectroRecycle is a not-for-profit initiative that provides an environmentally friendly recycling alternative for a variety of electrical products such as toasters, blenders, irons, sewing machines and electric toothbrushes that would otherwise end up in our landfills. More than 300 types of electrical products are accepted for drop-off through the ElectroRecycle program, free-of-charge at over 145 drop-off locations across the province. To find out more about ElectroRecycle and where to recycle small appliances and power tools, visit www.electrorecycle.ca.
The service is being offered as part of Vancity’s annual document shredding community event. The public is encouraged to bring their sensitive documents for onsite shredding and take part in the Community Marketplace. All proceeds will go toward the Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable.
