Upgrades to Fox Park Playground Underway
With the weather improving, construction work starts this week to upgrade the playground at Fox Park.
The new playground will provide additional play and social gathering opportunities for children and families living in the area.
The park is being upgraded as the existing play structures are outdated. Rubber surfacing will be installed to meet safety requirements and a border will be built around the playground.
The playground will include new structures such as slides, swings, elevated structures and spring/seesaw components for children ages two to twelve to enjoy. The structures will be accessible to children of abilities as per the City’s Accessible Play Spaces Policy.
The city`s contractor, Westplay will be working on the project on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on some Saturdays between 9 a.m. to 7 p.m as per City bylaws. Every effort will be made to minimize noise and traffic impacts to residents in the area.
The work is expected to be completed by mid-April depending on the weather. A celebration event will be held at the completion of the project as a thank you to area residents for their patience.
The park design was selected based on feedback from a public information session held with area residents last summer. Funding for the project was approved as part of the City’s 2018-19 Capital Works budget.
Fox Park is located off of Westwood Street in Port Coquitlam.
