First Aid Courses

Take a first aid course, save a life. The City of Port Coquitlam offers basic first aid training for youth and adults at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre. Please visit our registration website monthly for updates to our course offerings portcoquitlam.ca/register.

Please note: There are currently no courses scheduled for Fall 2022.

Course Options

1) CPR Level C with AED

This course is designed to train rescuers in the skills and knowledge needed to assess and provide basic life support to patients with airway, breathing, or circulatory emergencies. Instruction on how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and certification is also provided.

Course Length: 6 hours

2) Emergency First Aid

This program is designed for people who want general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. This program includes CPR-A certification.

Course Length: 8 hours

3) Standard First Aid

This is comprehensive first aid training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. You will learn how to deal with bone and joint injuries, suspected spinal injuries, heat and cold illness, bumps, bruises, burns and many other medical problems. This program includes CPR-C certification, AED certification, and OFA Level 1.

Course Length: 16 hours

4) Recertification Opportunities

The City of Port Coquitlam offers a variety of re-certification opportunities. Please be sure to keep your award current. You will be able to find the expiration date on the certification card issued by your instructor.
