Get Involved

The Arts Village is home to public exhibitions, programs, special events, music, dance, workshops and festivals throughout the year!  If you are interested in learning more about the arts village or becoming a bigger part of what we do, there are a number of ways that you can get involved.
Volunteers form the backbone of Leigh Square’s arts & culture programming. With the ongoing help of dedicated volunteers throughout the year, the Arts & Culture department can produce quality, creative and fun programs for the whole community to enjoy. Our programs are aimed at bringing the community together and enhancing the cultural vibrancy of Port Coquitlam for children, youth, adults and seniors.

As a volunteer with Arts & Culture, you will play an important role in bringing artists and the public together to understand and appreciate the arts and its role in community development.

Leigh Square hosts exhibitions of work by emerging/mid-career/established artists and regional/international work on a regular basis in its gallery and display space. We accept proposals for both solo and group shows on an ongoing basis as well as being open to partnerships with non-profits or artists co-ops looking for space to showcase emerging talent. We also host a Winter Artisans Fair annually and accept artisan application each fall.
Leigh Square is home to the Summer in the City Festival, Sunday Coffee Concerts at Terry Fox Theatre and the Winter Artisans Fair, all of which offer opportunities for both emerging and established performers to take the stage. Some of these events feature an open call for performers which appears on our website several months prior to the event.
Leigh Square offers programming for tots, children, school groups, and adults. Find program details on our website or check out the Port Coquitlam Leisure guide for a full listing. You can also show your support for the Arts Village by becoming a member of the Friends of Leigh Square. Check out membership benefits under the Get Involved section of our website.
Leigh Square Community Arts Village welcomes the opportunity to work with sponsors/partners in the community to present quality programming and meaningful experiences for Port Coquitlam residents and their families and visitors. Our programs are created to enhance community development.

Leigh Square functions as a place that promotes connections: supporting partnerships among community organizations and individuals, acting as a catalyst by seeding community programs and projects, and providing the physical space needed for community initiatives.

A partnership program can be an exhibition, performance, series of events, courses or workshops that Leigh Square staff and a community group or association organizes and promotes in collaboration. Projects that significantly advance the vision and mandate of Leigh Square and Work Plan are eligible and partners work closely in developing the project/program/ event. Partnerships provide recreational, social or cultural benefits to the community. Leigh Square’s mandate is to encourage and facilitate community development through arts, culture and heritage. A Leigh Square Partnership has more of a resource-sharing rather than a cost- sharing nature unless it’s a registered program.
