Cultural Roundtable

September 20 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Guest artist, Aurelia Bizouard, is presenting on her Live Light Painting, Community Engagement through Public Art, at our Cultural Roundtable on September 20th, 5pm – 7pm at the Michael Wright Art Gallery.

Aurelia Bizouard is a visual artist who creates art with glass panels, representing a metaphor for life. Her work is created with reverse painting on glass, sometimes using light, colours or other ways to play and innovate with glass. Aurelia develops immersive art projects at KULTURELIA, creating murals or canvasses and light experiences with her glass art in order to connect people to art, to themselves and to each other.

Today, this French artist lives between Paris and Vancouver. Her art studio is located in the art and design district of Railtown in East Vancouver and she is also represented in Los Angeles. Aurelia will be collaborating with the community of Port Coquitlam to create a 38 foot, interactive live light painted mural at Lions Park during the Rivers and Trails Festival, September 23 with a follow-up workshop on September 24. The community will be invited to paint the mural with Aurelia using a projected image and adding further designs inspired by our rivers, trails, salmon smolt and natural environment.

During the first part of the Roundtable the City will provide an update on upcoming cultural initiatives and participants will get the opportunity to share what’s happening with their work and with their organizations. Refreshments will be served and Aurelia will present during the second half of the Cultural Roundtable.  This meeting is open to all Port Coquitlam artists, community organizations, businesses and individuals interested in arts, culture and heritage.
