Port Coquitlam Sports Alliance

PrintThe Port Coquitlam Sports Alliance was developed as a result of the 2010 Sport Summit and building from the original Port Coquitlam Amateur Athletic Association.  This event brought together leaders from local sport clubs with senior city and school district officials for a collaborative discussion on building a strong sport culture.

The unanimous outcome was a desire to have “one single voice for sport.” The voice to be inclusive for all athletes balancing the needs of both young and old as well as recreational to elite.   There was an expressed need for a well organized group to act as the “glue” between sport clubs, city programs and policies, and the school district.  As many of the regions teams are evolving, they have asked for a “go-to” group with expertise in multiple sport issues that can help them build and thrive.

The Port Coquitlam Sports Alliance has brought together local experts in community recreation and sport business to provide service to our sporting community.  Our staff and board have extensive experience in items such as: policies and procedures, club building, event management, sponsorship, retail sales, public and media relations, coaching, officiating, athlete development, and pathway programming.
