The Recreation Support Program provides support for children/youth in registered activities. Recreation Staff collaborate with families to build strategies, adaptations and the support role needed to create a positive experience for children and youth.

Support Roles

• Leisure Buddy Volunteer: Most of our volunteers are youth with an interest in supporting inclusion. Volunteers have limited experience working with individuals with neuro-diversity or disabilities.
• City of Port Coquitlam Access Recreation Leader (Summer Day Camps Only July & August): Access Recreation Leaders provide one to one support to children/youth. Our ability to provide a one to one support worker depends upon the support needed and available resources. They are not trained Behavioural Interventionists or Community Support Workers.
• External Support: Families are welcome to bring an external support person to programs. Please call 604.927.7975 or email accessinclusion@portcoquitlam.ca to discuss further. 

Step 1: Select and register program of choice for the participant.

Step 2: Complete the Program Support Application Form as soon as possible following registration.  (below)

Step 3: Access Services will contact you to learn more about your child’s needs and discuss the best fit for support, as well as, complete the Program Support Plan collaboratively. 

Step 4:  Access and Inclusion Services will confirm the support role available.
