Youth Lessons (age 10-16)
The City of Port Coquitlam features aquatic programs for youth ages ten to sixteen years. Whether you are a non-swimmer, have completed swimming lessons, or simply want to try something new-we have the program for you! The intent of these programs are to continue to develop swimming skills while focusing on learning new skills, building fitness, and having fun!
Youth Swimming Lessons
Whether you are just starting out, want to improve your skills, or simply try some thing new, our youth lessons have something for you. The focus is on developing front and back crawl, establishing comfort in deep water, and increasing swimming distance. Instructors will cater a program to meet the participants’ specific needs.
Typical Time: Fridays from 6-7pm
Underwater Hockey For Youth
Try a new sport! With flippers, snorkel and a mask, players zip around the bottom of the pool with modified hockey sticks. Participants will begin by learning snorkeling basics, followed by the skills of the game, and a scrimmage every week! This is a great alternative to lessons-or for those who have completed Swim Kids level 8 or greater.
Typical Time : Saturdays from 11-12pm
Junior Triathlon Club
Want to learn to swim, bike, and run like the pros? This is an ideal program for those wanting to participate in triathlons or cross-train for other sports. Participants will alternate weekly between an outdoor run or indoor spin session followed by an hour swim workout. No experience necessary. Participants should have a Swim Kids level 7 ability or greater.
Typical Time: Thursdays from 4 -5:45pm
