The Port Coquitlam Volunteer Recognition Awards were created in 1997, in partnership with FortisBC (formerly Terasen Gas), to recognize and celebrate the spirit, dedication and outstanding contributions of Port Coquitlam’s volunteers.
The Volunteer Recognition Awards were originally presented in November of each year. In 1999 the Awards were postponed so that the event could be held in April during National Volunteer Recognition week. The categories have also evolved in subsequent years.
