Mary & Brian Ness

Mary and Bryan Ness dedicated long-time volunteers in the city of Port Coquitlam. Every morning for the past few years Mary walks from her house to Blakeburn Lagoons picking up garbage and cigarette butts on her way to and around the lagoons. Mary and Bryan are proud to be the Adopt a Spot family for Blakeburn Lagoons.
Bryan is a fantastic photographer his work can be seen in the month of May 2022 Naturally PoCo, with his fantastic picture of Canada Geese on Parade with all their goslings at Blakeburn lagoons. Bryan spends hours at the lagoons waiting for the birds to take flight so he can get the perfect shot. He is also a longtime Port Coquitlam heritage society volunteer and Port Coquitlam historian his knowledge about our city’s history is amazing. Bryan is happy to share what he knows and enjoys volunteering by giving walking tours around our beautiful city. Last year after having a routine mammogram Mary got the fright of her life. This resulted in several months of treatment which she recently completed. To acknowledge her treatment completion Mary posted the following on her April 1st facebook post: “Last radiation treatment today! Thanks to all the radiation techs who took care of me.” What is even more remarkable is she only took 4 days off all last year picking up litter. Mary also volunteers at the Port Coquitlam Red Cross and has done so for several years. Truly amazing dedication demonstrated by both Mary and Bryan as wonderful community volunteer’s hero’s that deeply care about Port Coquitlam. They are a truly inspiring couple.
