Block Party Application

Thank you for your interest in organizing a Community Block Party! Please note:

  • Community Block Parties are organized by an individual interested in hosting a gathering for the enjoyment and benefit of the surrounding neighbourhood. For all other road closure permits, visit our Road Closure Permit webpage. For Event inquiries, email [email protected].
  • It is your responsibility to ensure adequate insurance coverage is in place for your block party.
  • Please apply for your Block Party Permit at least two weeks prior to the event.

Staff will review your application and respond with next steps to set up your Block Party.

Neighbourhood Support

Provide names, contact info, and addresses for three neighbours (not including yours) who support your Block Party.

Street Closure & Barricade Requests

Any Block Party to be held on a public street, including cul-de-sacs, requires a Block Party street closure permit. Please note:

  • The City regularly monitors safety, traffic patterns and impacts of closures when considering applications.
  • Collector and arterial routes are not eligible for Block party street closures. 
  • Previous block party street closure approval does not guarantee approval.
  • Events held in public parks, on strata lots, or on private property do not require a street closure but may benefit from barricades to ensure the safety of participants.
