Pink Shirt Day

Wednesday, February 26, 2025 is Pink Shirt Day. Rock your pink in support of the movement against bullying. Wear a pink shirt, hat, scarf, glasses - or whatever! - wherever you are.

Pink Shirt Day is held on the last Wednesday of February each year. The national anti-bullying movement started in 2007 after students in Nova Scotia rallied around a boy who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. This day reminds us to reflect on the ways we can show kindness in our community - in schools, workplaces, neighbourhoods, and with everyone we meet. You can spread kindness virtually on your social media platforms and share with us.

Activities

  • The PoCo Youth Leadership Group will lead the creation of friendship bracelets and colouring sheets at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. on February 26.
  • The Wilson Lounge will create and display hearts with kind messages in their shared spaces during the week leading up the February 26.
  • Show your support for Pink Shirt Day by picking up a free pink reflector at the Mary Hill Community Police Station on February 25 (10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) or at City Hall (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).
  • Port Coquitlam City Council will wear pink and proclaim February 26 as Pink Shirt Day at the Council meeting on February 25.
