PoCo Climb

The first phase of our new trek in Port Coquitlam has officially opened! Introducing the name of the new trek: PoCo Climb. This is one of the most popular name suggestions from our community. Thank you to everyone who submitted their ideas!

Phase One has opened with over 150 timber stairs. It’s just the beginning — Phase 2 will be an even bigger adventure with an additional 150 timber stairs being added and a total elevation gain of 75 metres!

PoCo Climb will provide pedestrian connectivity to different neighbourhoods, natural areas, and parks in the City, including Castle Park, Citadel Heights Park, Skyline Park, Citadel Landing/the Fraser River, and ƛ̓éxətəm (tla-hut-um) Regional Park (formerly known as Colony Farm Regional Park).

When Phase 2 is complete, PoCo Climb will include over 300 timber stairs with a starting elevation of 5 metres rising to 75 metres between Shaughnessy Street and Eastern Drive. The trail will be approximately 6.5 kilometres long.

The trek is nature-based and the unique construction will impact less than 1% of existing vegetation. It will be seamlessly incorporated into the existing trail infrastructure of the 25.3-kilometre Traboulay PoCo Trail network and include:

Updated access points with a new pedestrian crossing to connect the trail to ƛ̓éxətəm (tla-hut-um) Regional Park
Improvements to the existing pedestrian crossing at Eastern Drive to Skyline Park
Installation of wayfinding signage and bridge crossings with a variety of natural elements
New waste bins and bike racks
