Visit the PoCo Climb — a unique space to get active and enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds Port Coquitlam. The installation of the trail is a major enhancement to Port Coquitlam's pedestrian connections and helps create a more livable and vibrant City for residents and visitors alike.
Phase 1 Complete
Phase 1 of the project was completed in the summer of 2024, featuring over 150 timber stairs and elevation gains from 5 metres to 75 metres between Shaughnessy Street and Eastern Drive. This phase also included the installation of a new crosswalk with flashing beacons to safely connect ƛ̓éxətəm (tla-hut-um) Regional Park to the PoCo Climb section of the trail.
Phase 2 Complete
This expansion of the PoCo Climb now features a truly one-of-a-kind 'scramble' trail and significantly enhances the community's access to nature and active living. This new section builds on the existing challenge, bringing the total number of stairs on the PoCo Climb to over 200, ascending from an elevation of 5 metres to 75 metres between Shaughnessy Street and Western Drive. This expansion not only offers a fitness challenge with stunning views but also thoughtfully integrates into the City’s existing trail infrastructure, making it a true gem for outdoor enthusiasts.
Phase 2 highlights include:
- Updated access points with a new pedestrian crossing for improved connectivity to the ƛ̓éxətəm (tla-hut-um) Regional Park.
- Improvements to the existing pedestrian crossing at Eastern Drive to Skyline Park, ensuring safer passage.
- An exciting granite boulder 'scramble' running alongside for those seeking an extra dose of adventure leading to a scenic summit landing.
- Amazing unobstructed views of ƛ̓éxətəm (tla-hut-um) Regional Park, providing a breathtaking reward for the climb.
