Large Item Pick-Up

Our Large Item Pick-Up Program helps reduce illegal dumping and ensures discarded items are disposed of properly. Per calendar year, each qualifying household is allotted 2 free curbside pick-ups of 3 items maximum OR 1 free curbside pick-up of 4-6 items. This program is available to household owners that receive City waste services and pay the garbage fee on their property tax bills.

 Before submitting a pick-up request via the online form below, please read all the information on qualifications, scheduling your pick-up, and accepted items.

Qualifications

To qualify for large item pick-up, the following criteria must be met:

  • A solid waste levy must be paid on the residence's property tax bill.
  • You must be the property owner or have approval from the property owner.
    • If you rent, contact your landlord and have them email [email protected] or call 604.927.5324 to confirm permission to use the large item pick-up program for their residence.

Scheduling Your Pick-Up

To schedule your large item pick-up:

  • Ensure you qualify for the program.
  • Submit the online form below.
  • Wait for email confirmation from the City (within 2-5 business days). Please check your spam folder.
  • Do not place your items in front of your residence until your actual pick-up date (which would be confirmed after you submit your request). Anything left out prior to the confirmed date would be considered illegal dumping and can lead to a fine.
  • Once given a pick-up date, prepare items based on the criteria (eg. mattresses need to be plastic wrapped) and place your large item for pick-up at 7am on the scheduled day you are given. The City will confirm your pick-up date at least one day prior.
  • Any requests that come in two weeks prior to the end of the year will be counted as your next year’s allotment
  • Pick-ups will typically be scheduled 2-5 business days after submission. Please note pick-ups can only be scheduled up to 2 weeks in advance.
