The Recreation Department works hard to ensure the health and safety of our patrons and strive to continue to offer positive experiences for all members of the community. The information provided below is to keep you up to date on current processes, safety protocols, procedures and operational updates for a positive experience.
Port Coquitlam residents will now have increased priority access to drop-in registered recreation programs. Effective Tues. April 2, 2024, Port Coquitlam residents can sign up for registered drop-in programs two days prior to start of program at 8am and non-residents will be able to register two days prior to start of program at 10am.
General Drop-in and Program Guidelines:
- All participants require an account for drop-in and registered programs. You can create an account at portcoquitlam.ca/register
- Registration for registered drop-in activities opens at 8:00 am for Port Coquitlam residents and 10:00 am for non-residents, 2 days in advance of the drop-in program and closes 60 minutes prior to the activity start time
- Participants may withdraw from a drop-in activity online up until midnight the day prior to class or up to 2 hours prior to start time by phone 604.927.PLAY (7529) or email [email protected] without penalty
- If you do not withdraw from class in allotted time we will contact you by email and make a note on your account
- If, for a second time, you do not withdraw from the class in allotted time, we will contact by email and add a second note to your account
- If, for a third time, you do not withdraw from the class in allotted time, we will contact you by email, add a third note to your account, and freeze your membership for one week
- If, for a fourth time, you do not withdraw from the class in allotted time, we will contact you by email, add a fourth note to your account, and freeze your membership for one month and subsequently thereafter
- During a membership freeze participants may register for classes by paying the full drop-in admission price
- Registration, memberships and passes are non-transferable, non-shareable and non-refundable
- Passes are to be used by the passholder only and not to be shared. Sharing of passes may result in pass suspension.
- Lockers require a loonie or a locker token (available for purchase at front desk)
- Aquatic areas at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre and Port Coquitlam Community Centre close for annual maintenance each year for approximately 3-8 weeks, however, one centre will always remain fully open
Weight Room and Fitness Classes:
Weight room drop-in is available at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) and at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre (HC). Full schedule and hours are viewable at portcoquitlam.ca/register
- One City Day pass is required for entry and can be purchased online at portcoquitlam.ca/register prior to arrival
- Pre-registration for drop-in fitness classes is required online at portcoquitlam.ca/register, in person or by calling 604.927.PLAY (7529) as space permits
- Participants for fitness classes are asked to arrive 10 minutes prior to scheduled start time for check-in (latecomers will not be admitted)
- Late entry for group fitness classes will not be granted
- Participants must be 12yrs and older to use weight room or attend fitness classes
Aquatic Programs:
Drop-in public swim schedules and additional information is available at portcoquitlam.ca/swimming
- Participants must be 7yrs and older to swim on their own
- Participants may only register for one swim lesson set (including performance enhancers)
- Participants currently enrolled in a swim lesson set may not be on another waitlist
- Participants not currently enrolled in a lesson set can be added to multiple waitlists
- Participants must successfully complete a swim level prior to registering in another swim lesson set
- Additional swim class registrations will result in participant being withdrawn from additional registrations (refund policy in effect)
- Skill level as a pre-requisite is required on account for enrollment. Free level evaluation available during public swims
- For lessons completed in a different municipality, please update your registration account by providing a report card to our Recreation team at [email protected]
- Registration for swim lessons open at 8:00 am, 30 days prior to the first day of swim lessons for Port Coquitlam residents

Children’s Programs:
- Each adult participant included must be registered in all children drop–in activities
- Registration for licensed preschool opens in February for the September start of that year (please see Refunds / Withdrawals below)
- Participants in licensed preschool must be fully toilet trained
- Registration for recreational playschool programs and children’s programs open each season
Skate Programs:
Drop in public skate schedule and additional information is available at portcoquitlam.ca/skating
- Each participant must be registered including tot (0 – 4yrs) and Super Senior (80+yrs) prior to public skate
- Rentals can be purchased at time of registration ($3.48 skate and $2.36 helmet)
- Registrations are non-transferable
- Participants must be 8yrs and older to skate on their own during public skate
- 11yrs and under require a CSA approved helmet; strongly recommended for all skaters (bike helmets not permitted)
- Wheelchairs and strollers are permitted on ice
- Participants may only register for one skate lesson set
- Participants currently enrolled in a skate lesson may not be on another skate lesson waitlist
- Participants not currently enrolled in a lesson set can be added to multiple waitlists
- Participants must successfully complete a skate level prior to registering in another skate lesson
- Additional skate lesson registrations will result in participant being withdrawn from additional registrations (refund policy in effect)
- Skill level as a pre-requisite is required on account for enrollment. Free level evaluation available during public swims

Refunds / Withdrawals:
- Withdrawal from registered recreation programs will be pro-rated and charged a $5 administration fee for each individual activity withdrawal
- Participants may be eligible for a refund from a registered program, less the $5 admin fee, if withdrawal is requested prior to the start of the third class
- Participants may be eligible for a refund from a camp, specialized, or co-sponsored programs, less the $5 admin fee, if withdrawal is requested seven days prior to start date and time
- Participants may withdraw from a registered drop-in activity up to 24 hours in advance without penalty via online, by calling 604.927.PLAY (7529) or emailing [email protected]
- Monthly and Annual Membership passes are non-refundable and non-transferable
- 10/20 membership passes are non-transferable, non-shareable and may be eligible for a prorated refund less $5 admin fee – 10/20 passes expire 2 years from the date of purchase
- Customers who pre-registered for a drop-in activity but do not show up for the session without providing required notice may result in suspension of membership (see above “General Drop-In and Program Guidelines”)
- Facility rentals that require a cancellation request will be considered if they are received 14 days in advance of the booked date. Requests, less than 14 days in advance, will be considered on a case by case basis
- Withdrawals from City preschool requires 30 days written notice to [email protected] Withdrawals are not permitted for the months of December, March, May and June

- Treat others with respect and dignity at all times
- Report inappropriate behavior, safety concerns, broken equipment or facility damage to staff immediately
