Community Police

Port Coquitlam has two Community Police Stations that are operated in conjunction with Coquitlam RCMP and offer a variety of community-based programs and services.

Staffed by volunteers, the stations are places where people can get help reporting minor offenses or learn about crime prevention and community safety. The stations do not provide emergency services.

Services at Community Police Stations

  • Responding to routine enquiries from the public.
  • Taking non-emergency police reports for minor incidents such as lost and found property.
  • Documenting non-emergency crime reports: Lost/found/stolen property, graffiti/vandalism, drugs, and general complaints.
  • Operating crime-prevention programs such as: Bike and foot patrols, Operation Identification (engraving of personal belongings), and Child ID.
  • Providing information on topics such as: ICBC’s auto theft programs. fraud and identity theft, senior safety, and Coquitlam RCMP’s Block Watch program
  • Collecting police information checks.
  • Attending community events for outreach and education.
  • Spearheading new initiatives to address public safety issues.

Volunteer with Community Police

Interested in helping make Port Coquitlam even safer? Volunteers are always needed for a variety of front-counter and outreach programs. We’ll find the right fit for you:

  • Front counter public assistance
  • Eyes and ears foot or bike patrol
  • Distracted driving awareness
  • Participation in public safety initiatives and special events
  • Graffiti removal and community clean-ups
  • Leadership roles within their programs

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, have no criminal record, and pass an RCMP security and suitability interview.

3: Complete an intake interview and police information check (free).

4: Attend an orientation and train.
