Utility Bills

We collect utility fees each year to pay for water and sewer services. These are flat annual fees based on the services provided to the property.

Utility bills were due on March 31, 2025. Bills are mailed out each year by the end of February. Please note solid waste fees are billed on your Annual Property Tax Notice.

Multi-family homes have lower water and sewer rates due to lower usage, and only pay solid waste fees if they have opted in to City waste collection services.

How To Pay Your Bill

Late payment penalties

Property owners are responsible for making the payment by the due date regardless of whether or not they received a bill, problems with postal service, inclement weather or other circumstances.

  • A 5% penalty will be added to 2025 current utility levies outstanding after Mar 31, 2025
  • A further 5% penalty will be applied after June 2, 2025

The City has no authority to waive or modify these penalty amounts, which are required by the Local Government Act.

Secondary Suite Exemptions

Homes with secondary suites receive a separate utility billing for the suite. Property owners may apply for an exemptions in certain cases

Utility Bill Discounts

Utility bill discounts are available for seniors and people with disabilities on a limited income who meet certain criteria.

Utility Review

Water and sewer utilities are provided on a cost recovery basis with the goal of providing the best utility services at the lowest cost to Port Coquitlam to run our system are influenced by a number of internal and external factors, but none more impactful than the costs passed to the City from Metro Vancouver.
