Dean is proud to be born and raised in the city, He raised his now grown daughters Megan, Riley and Courtney in Port Coquitlam and welcomed his grandson Louis in 2015.
Dean has headed up the budget process since 2012, guiding the process with his colleagues that now sees the city with some of the lowest taxes in Metro Vancouver. He has leaned on his experience as president of a large automotive business to strike a balance between fiscal responsibility, while still providing the services and infrastructure citizens expect.
Dean’s hobbies include playing the drums, golfing and distance running. He has completed several 21.1 km half marathons as well as the 42.2 km European Marathon in 2009 raising money in support of the Arthritis Foundation.
He is proud to be a life-time volunteer coaching Lacrosse and has served as volunteer chairperson and lead organizer of the Downtown PoCo Car Show…the city`s largest event. As one of the co-founders in 2005, he’s enjoyed watching the event grow from a parking lot show to the extravaganza it is today sporting over 500 cars and 70,000 spectators on the streets of downtown Port Coquitlam. He also served as lead organizer of the city's 100th Birthday Party, The Last Dance at Poco Rec Centre and Party in the Park.
