Nomination categories include Home-based Business Award, New Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, and Business of the Year. All nominees will also be entered to win the People’s Choice Award, determined by public vote.
Why Nominate?
Port Coquitlam’s businesses provide jobs, bring shopping and amenities to our community, and contribute to our tax base. A nomination for a PoCo Best Biz Award:
- Recognizes and raises the profile of excellent local businesses. Nominees are promoted in City ads, the website and social media, and will be celebrated at the awards evening.
- Shows local businesses they are valued and encourages them to continue to do a great job.
- Supports our local economy, which benefits us all.
Selection Process
Nominations for the People’s Choice Award will be posted to the City’s website for a one-week period for an open public voting process.
Nominations for other categories will be shortlisted by Planning Staff based on the category criteria. Staff recommend answering the questions thoroughly with examples and descriptions of how the nominee meets the criteria to aid with the evaluation. The top nominees from each category will be reviewed by the Awards Selection Committee. A winner will be chosen by the Committee through consensus. In the event consensus cannot be reached, Committee members will vote for a winner.
